Clay Walton

Clay is an engineering and technology professional with over 30 years of broad project management experience, with a focus on traditional and renewable energy.

Clay is a registered Professional Engineer with significant technical and project management experience. His experience encompasses regulatory requirements, technology development and evaluation, process plant design, construction and operations. Clay has successfully assembled and managed multi-discipline project teams in all phases of project development from concept to completion. His experience as a project engineer and manager spans diverse industrial processes, including pulp and paper, traditional power and renewable energy development, municipal wastewater systems, biomass to energy plant design, oil and gas and petrochemical production and refining.  Clay’s work has included projects in Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Europe, as well as the United States. Prior to joining Ultra, Clay was a director in the Energy Business Unit at the Harris Group, Inc, a multi-discipline engineering design firm specializing in oil & gas and power industry process and detail design, project planning, and management and construction management. Before that, he served as a Senior Vice President at Enertech Environmental, Inc from 2008 to 2011, a company that constructed facilities using a unique heat hydrolyzing process for production of solid fuels from municipal waste water residual biosolids. Here, he was responsible for all engineering, project management, construction and commissioning. Clay previously held a variety of positions at companies such as Microgy, Inc, Energy Answers Corporation, Trident Technologies International, Walsh Environmental Engineers and Ecova, Inc, where he oversaw project development functions and managed operations.

Clay holds an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.
